Microsoft have announced that they will be completely revamping their Hotmail service.

The company will reveal the new webmail platform to the media at a conference in San Francisco on 3rd October and have advised users to forget everything they thought they knew about the platform.

According to The Drum, every element of Hotmail, from performance to spam filters to security, is set to be completely reinvented to provide an improved experience for email users.

According to techworld.com, the announcement represents one of the first major innovations in webmail for years. The three leading online email providers Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail have kept their platforms relatively unchanged since Gmail came onto the scene in 2004.
