New Year is best time to freshen up email design
Joe Elvin
17 Jan 2012The start of a new year is a brilliant time to spruce up a company's email marketing templates, an industry expert has claimed.
Wikus Engelbrecht, a well-respected digital marketing journalist, has stated that businesses who give the design of their emails even the smallest makeover could reap the rewards of doing so.
He added that minor tweaks such as adding new images, submitting a fresh layout or brainstorming ideas for new content could all help to regain subscriber's attention.
In an article for adotas.com, Engelbrecht offered tips for those hoping to freshen up their email marketing campaign with a new design.
He said: "One of the easiest ways to refresh your template is to try a different layout. You might want to consider cutting back on elements before you think about adding more, as simpler layouts give you the opportunity to focus on a single, compelling message.
"On the other hand, you can also try a multi-column layout if you do have a lot of information to fill your newsletter with and want to organise it into more easily readable blocks - but remember - single-column layouts have the best readability on mobile devices."
Adding to Englebrecht's points, fellow digital marketing writer Ayo Oyedotun has claimed that email marketing designers should be particularly focusing on how email messages look on mobile devices this year.
In an article for business2community.com, he stated that was because 2012 would be the year where mobile marketing and email marketing would fully intersect.
