The email newsletter - what content are you able to include?
Hannah Ward
24 Feb 2011
The end of the month is fast approaching so it is time for me to send out February’s EMM (Email Marketing Manual) aka Pure360’s monthly newsletter with all the latest email marketing news. This could be a really daunting task, when I first joined Pure360 and I was told I would be in charge of the EMM my first thought was along the lines of ‘Where am I going to get all the copy... perhaps that’s what I will spend most of my time doing – writing copy...’ But that is in no way the case, thanks to other members of the Pure360 gang.
As well as looking after our newsletter send each month, I am also in charge of updating the website with blogs as often as possible. This month, as I scrolled through the blogs in search of content for February’s newsletter, I was struck by the fact that from the beginning of December we had a whopping 12 blog contributors – that’s about 1/6 of our entire company.
We all know that variety is the spice of life so the fact that there are 11 different faces on our blog page is fantastic in terms of Pure360’s website content – thanks very much Michael, Andy T, Marc, Liv, Russ, Abi, James, Lucy, Sam, Richard and Maria for your contributions! Clearly we are all very passionate about what we do and this passion makes my life a lot easier when it comes to content for the newsletter but it’s these kinds of individual contributions that can make a massive difference when it comes to your newsletter.
Get them involved!
So... content is really important when it comes to your company newsletter. The newsletter should be something that your recipients look forward to receiving. I know we are all busy but have you ever considered that different departments might actually like to contribute to your company newsletter? It’s kind of nice to have your work online so why not encourage people to get involved and update you with what’s going on in their department. If this is easier said than done then are there are lots of other things you can consider including in
your newsletter:
- company reports
- case studies
- expert advice
- events
- industry news and that’s just the B2B stuff... B2C can be a whole different ball game, the possibilities really are endless – check out some of the stuff innocent drinks get up to (if you haven’t already), it’s really cool.
