Darren Fell, founder of top UK email marketing company Pure, was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Sussex Business Awards 2007/08 last week.

In one of the most hotly contested categories, Darren saw off competition from two other finalists to take the prestigious title.

Darren founded Pure six years ago, which now has a team of 43. Its customer base has grown to 720 across three divisions; Small Business, Agency and Major Accounts. Levi’s, innocent drinks, the Financial Times and Rightmove are clients.

“I am elated, this is the award to win,” said Darren Fell. “Building Pure has been challenging and rewarding and I am about to do it all again - the accolade has come at a perfect time as I am currently working on my new venture, www.crunch.co.uk, which will launch in May 2008.”

Pure picked up Best Small Business at last year’s Sussex Business Awards ceremony, and was also named one of the top 50 fastest growing new media companies in the UK at the Media Momentum awards 2007.
